What size control bar do I need?
The general rule is to use a short 17” bar for small kites (4 to 6/7m usually), the long 23” bar is for larger kites (about 12/13m and larger) and the 20” bar is the universal size that will work for all kites but is best for about 6/ 7 m to about 12m.
Can you use a 4 line bar on a 5 line kite?
4 Line and 5 Line Control Bars 4 line control bars can be used for just about any kite and so can 5 line bars, but the 5th line would need to first be removed. Note: Some 5th line bars may or may not have a 100% depower flag line after removal of the 5th line.
How long should a kite string be?

When should you depower a kite?
You have too much power so you sheet out – but sheeting out that far puts you into an uncomfortable position. So, you grab the ‘depower’ line on the trim strap and use it to depower the kite until your preferred bar position is the most comfortable. But then, after 30 minutes on the water, the wind dies down a little.
Can you use any bar with any kite?
More often than not, you can mix any modern 4-line kite with any 4-line bar.
What is a five line kite?
Additionally to the back- and frontlines a five line system has (as the name suggests) a fifth line which is fixed in the middle of the fronttube. There are kites which obligatory need the additional line – otherwise they would’t work properly. One can recognize them by a tensioned fifth line.

How big are the power lines on a duotone kite?
