Do I have to live on campus at ADFA?
While studying and training at ADFA, officer cadets and midshipmen are required to live on base in the Canberra suburb of Campbell.
Is ADFA a good uni?

Can you leave ADFA?
During academic sessions you may apply for short leave from ADFA outside of normal working hours. You will not wear uniform on short leave.
Do you need an Atar for ADFA?
The scheme is available for entry to all undergraduate courses. Eligibility for the scheme does not guarantee admission but does allow successful applicants with an ATAR or equivalent below the course lowest selection rank to compete for a place. UNSW EAS applications are processed centrally through UAC.
Can you defer ADFA?
Yes, with approval of your specific Service. However, while at ADFA, you will be on a good salary and your days will be so full that you will have little time for extra commitments.
Do you get weekends off at ADFA?
Outside of training, exercises and deployments members generally work an eight-hour day (which includes time spent exercising) and five-day weeks. So they will generally be free evenings and weekends to do whatever they want on or off base, and enjoy normal social lives.
Do you get paid while at ADFA?
All ADFA cadets are paid a salary package between $35,661 and $50,344 per year. Cadets do not have to pay tuition fees and the cost of most textbooks is covered.
Can you study medicine at ADFA?
Equipped with a recognised degree in a field such as Medicine, Law, Dentistry, Nursing, Engineering, Business or IT, graduates can apply for an Officer role through Graduate Entry. Officer Entry and General Entry roles are available to graduates with degrees not listed here.
What happens after ADFA?
Following graduation from ADFA you are commissioned as a Pilot Officer or Flying Officer and go on to job-specific training. Air Force Officer Cadets who undertake a fourth year of study do so prior to job-specific training.
