Can you do ty work experience?
Work Experience in Transition Year is an opportunity to gain experience in a workplace of interest. Schools often give TY students two weeks or 1 day per week for 10 – 14 weeks for work experience. During this time students are expected to work in a business that they have organised a work experience placement with.
How do I find my work experience placement?
Speak to a teacher at your school or college and ask them whether they have arrangements in place with local employers. If so, your school or college may help you arrange your placements. Apply directly to an employer for a place on a work experience programme they run.
Can you do year 10 work experience at a university?
School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs) are available to all Year 10, 11 and 12 high school students in NSW. They allow students to commence an apprenticeship or complete a traineeship while at school.

Transition year work experience is co-ordinated through Manpower Offices at Brigade Headquarters for the Army, and through Manpower Offices at The Air Corps and Naval Service Headquarters.

Are there any opportunities for TY students in Dublin?
IBM’s Dublin (Software) Lab is running a week-long workshop for TY students which aims at encouraging students to consider IT as an option for their future careers. The workshop is open to Transition Year students, with 20 places available at each workshop. Students should have an interest in maths and/or science.
