Schlegman conceived of it with two goals in mind: 1) to optimize the site’s breathtaking and unobstructed view of Lake Michigan, and 2) to take full advantage of the direct morning sunlight afforded by that view. These goals resulted in the building’s signature diamond of angled windows, creating an enormous low-tech solar panel.
