Should you tape foam board seams?
To serve as a drainage plane, the seams in the foam sheathing must be properly taped with sheathing and flashing tapes to provide continuity of the drainage plane at joints between panels. The tapes must be durable enough to prevent ingress of water at panel joints for the life of the system.

Surface of FOAMULAR® XPS insulation to which JointSealR™ Foam Joint Tape is applied must be smooth, clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Remove release liner backing material and center the adhesive tape over the joint to be sealed. Continue to remove the liner and press the tape firmly in place over the joint.
Can you use duct tape on foam board?
Test strip of Construction Grade Tuck Tape has been applied to the styrofoam. I’m encouraged, when I peel it back it takes some of the styrofoam off with it. I’ll report whether it stayed stuck tomorrow morning!

PVA sticks to polystyrene and wood so some 2mm MDF glued to the back should give you a good surface to stick double sided tape etc to. Or cut keyhole slots in the MDF and hang from screws.
