How does the L298N work?
The L298N is a dual H-Bridge motor driver which allows speed and direction control of two DC motors at the same time. The module has two screw terminal blocks for the motor A and B, and another screw terminal block for the Ground pin, the VCC for motor and a 5V pin which can either be an input or output.
What is a L298N module?
This L298N Motor Driver Module is a high power motor driver module for driving DC and Stepper Motors. This module consists of an L298 motor driver IC and a 78M05 5V regulator. L298N Module can control up to 4 DC motors, or 2 DC motors with directional and speed control.
How many logic pins does L298N module have?
Power Supply The L298N motor driver module is powered through 3-pin 3.5mm-pitch screw terminals. It consists of pins for motor power supply(Vs), ground and 5V logic power supply(Vss).
How do you wire a L298N?
Step 5. Wire the motors to the L298N
- Connect the red wire from the first motor (M1) to OUT1 on the L298N board.
- Connect the black wire from M1 to OUT2.
- Connect the red wire from the second motor (M2) to OUT4.
- Connect the black wire from M2 to OUT3.
What is the output voltage of L298N?
General specifications
Motor driver: | L298N |
---|---|
Maximum operating voltage: | 46 V |
Peak output current per channel: | 2 A |
Minimum logic voltage: | 4.5 V |
Maximum logic voltage: | 7 V |
Where does the motor output come from in l298n?
The output for motor A is obtained from out1 out2 pins and similarly for motor Boutput is obtained from out3 out4 pins. L298N does not have built in protection diodes we usedexternal diodes to prevent the IC from getting damaged. This IC is using two different voltages.
What kind of driver is the l298n?
L298N is an integrated circuit multi watt 15 package and capable of giving high voltage. It is a high current dual full-bridge driver that is designed to accept standard TTL logic levels.
Why is the l298n used in a magnetic drive?
Basically L298N is used to drive inductive or magnetic loads, so there can come voltage spikes in output. To avoid that voltage spikes there should be some internal parasitic or Flywheel diodes. But it lacks them. We use externally these flywheel diodes.
What does the 5V pin on the l298n do?
5V pin supplies power to the switching logic circuitry inside the L298N IC. If the 5V-EN jumper is in place, this pin acts as output and can be used to power up the Arduino. If the 5V-EN jumper is removed, you need to connect it to the 5V pin on Arduino.
