Why is Eva-01 so special?
In End of Evangelion, Eva-01 sets off a cruciform explosion and is completely under the control of its resident soul from that point forward. It plays a critical role in Third Impact and Instrumentality, eventually floating off into space as a memorial for all mankind.
What are Eva infinities?
Failures of Infinity (インフィニティのなり損ないたち, Infiniti no Narisokonaitachi) are inert, headless red copies of Eva-01 introduced in Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo. These beings are specifically referred to as “Evas” in the script.
Why do EVAS bleed?
More of its internal body is revealed during the aftermath of Asuka’s last stand against a series of Mass Production Evangelions from SEELE. As Eva-02’s power runs out and a replica Spear of Longinus strikes it, the Mass Production model violently tear apart at the unit.

Is Eva 01 a human?
Evangelion Unit-01 is, like all Evangelions, a giant artificial human (Jinzo ningen) with brown skin. It has a mouth similar to that of a human as well as two round green eyes. The face also has four small nostrils and red blood.
Are Evangelions alive?
Evangelions are often mistaken for giant robots, but as early as Episode 02 Evangelion Unit-01 is seen without its helmet on, revealing that Evangelions are clearly not robots, but cyborgs, living creatures with mechanical components incorporated into their bodies.

Where does the Eva 01 come from in Evangelion?
Eva-01 was produced by the Hakone branch of Gehirnas the Evangelion Test Type model. Unlike the other Evas, its body was generated directly from the body of Lilith, and is consequently referred to as Lilith’s “offspring” or “clone.”
