A hand-pulled print is any work of art produced in limited multiple iterations and created through a hand printed transfer process.

Deckled edge prints have a gorgeously feathered edge which makes them feel as though you have just discovered them between the pages of a long-lost, antique book. Printed on archival, matte cotton rag paper which will last for decades, deckled edge prints have a slightly textured surface that is a joy to touch.
How are relief prints created?
Relief printing is when you carve into a printing block that you then use to press onto paper and make a print. The lines or shapes you carve into the printing block will not have ink on them, so will not show up on your paper. The print will be a mirror image of what you see on your printing block!
How do you tear paper for printmaking?
Hold the bar firmly with one hand and use the other hand to tear the paper against the bar. Be sure to use short, firm strokes in order to get a good crisp tear. After you tear the excess paper away, you’ll see that the pinholes have been torn away and that the margin is the exact size you wanted.
How do you get raw edges on paper?
Just fold and wet along where you want to tear (paper needs to be well soaked), and make sure to gently tug the paper to the side – not upwards. Then leave to dry for beautiful feathery edges!

What kind of paper to use for torn edges?
The best paper is one that is very fibrous such as cotton base papers. Just be aware sometimes these papers may mute tones more. Unless you are going borderless, you will want your print to have about a 2-inch border. If your border is too small you might find achieving a nice even tear on each side more difficult.
