The Nukeproof Horizon Pro platform pedal delivers excellent grip whether you’re cranking uphill or mobbing downhill through rough and technical terrain. With such stellar grip, these pedals are not recommended for all disciplines on the bike.

Now designed and developed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Nukeproof products are sold through select independent bike dealers around the globe.
Are plastic or metal pedals better?
The Pins Wear Down Faster The pins of 100% plastic pedals wear down faster than those of metal pedals. The wear results in less grippy pedals. Plastic pedals with metal pins are an exception to this rule as they use the same replaceable pins as metal pedals.

Are alloy pedals good?
They are great value, provide tons of grip, and will last you years if looked after properly. If you have a larger budget and want a thinner better-looking pedal, then go with alloy.
How long do plastic pedals last?
Anywhere from 20 weeks to 20 years. I’ve had fairly expensive pedals go south after only a few months, while others have lasted 5-10 years. If possible get serviceable pedals — the “non-serviceable” ones may be possible to repair, but it would be iffy. Avoid anything with a plastic body.
What kind of bearings does the Nukeproof neutron have?
As well as the standard (read useless) moulded pins, Nukeproof fits the Neutron with seven replaceable alloy pins per side. These are reverse fitted and can be adjusted to fine-tune grip. The Neutron is impressively thin for a plastic pedal. The Neutron EVO spins on two sealed bearings and a DU bushing per pedal.
What makes a Nukeproof enduro flat pedal so good?
It also has a slight amount of concavity, so that the ball of your foot remains centred over the axle, and that stops it slipping forward when descending or pedalling hard on rough terrain. Nukeproof also uses cold steel set screws, which are really sharp.
What kind of material is the neutron pedal made out of?
Plastics used to be seen as the cheap option for flat pedals. But as the Nukeproof Neutron EVO shows, a ‘budget’ pedal can cut it with the big guns when it comes to performance. The main body uses a nylon-reinforced composite with a relatively flat profile across the platform.
How big is a Nukeproof horizon Pro pedal?
Pins can also be removed to lessen the grip and traction if need be. The platform on the Horizon Pro is a forged 6061 aluminum body, with a footprint of 100mm x 105mm combined with a thickness of 15mm. This is by no means the thinnest profile on the market with other pedals measuring in at a slim 5+ mm slimmer.
