Is a buzzing transformer dangerous?

Is a buzzing transformer dangerous?

Not unless you’re sleeping right next to it. Humming sound in power transformers is generated due to continuous realignment of magnetic domains in the magnetic core in each cycle. This create high mechanical stress in the core leading to compression and elongation of the core.

What makes a humming noise on the right side of the car?

In all probability, a wheel bearing on the right side of your car is faulty, probably the front right wheel bearing.

Why does the noise go away on a right turn?

The reason that the bearing noise goes away on right turns (or curves) is during that maneuver the weight of the vehicle shifts from the right to the left and that “unloading” of the right side wheel position takes some of the vehicle weight off of the right wheel bearing, usually just enough to make the noise go away.

Why does my water hammer make a humming noise?

If it is exactly 60 Hertz then blame the transformers sound waves vibrating your home. If it is a derivative frequency of 60 Hz, likely the transformers also. May I also suggest that you post your water hammer question as a seperate question to stand on its own?

Why does my gas meter make a humming noise?

Gas meter is fine. No pressure issues with gas. No water leaks. Turned off toby in street and it was still audible. The front room floor does feel like its vibrating but perhaps the noise I am hearing gives the suggestion of vibration (sounds like a bus engine idling in distance or the throb of engine when you are on a ferry but very low level).

Why does my car make a humming noise when I turn to the right?

The noise only occurs when the steering wheel is turned to the right. It happens when going around a gradual curve or just a slight course correction (very small steering wheel motion). The noise does not change if the manual transmission is in neutral or if the brakes are applied.

Why does my house make a humming noise at night?

At night when all is quiet it’s horrendous as there are no other noises to mask it. It sounds like a pump running 24/7. Any ideas? We have had Scottish Power out as I thought it may be one of two electrical substation that are along the road.
