What is a Cgam chiller?
The CGAM air-cooled scroll chiller offers the perfect combination of flexibility, efficiency and low noise. Available in sizes ranging from 20 to 130 tons with a compact footprint, the CGAM is one of the quieter air-cooled chillers available today.

What is an air cooled scroll chiller?
An air cooled chiller rejects the heat absorbed from the building or process directly to the outdoor air using refrigerant to air coils and fans that blow outdoor air directly over those coils.
What causes low refrigerant temp on a chiller?
The compressor is simply not pumping much refrigerant. All components in the system will be starved of refrigerant. The 100 percent saturated liquid point in the condenser will be very low. This will cause low condenser subcooling.
What is the difference between screw and scroll chiller?
Scroll chillers start as low as 20 tons and increase in size to approximately 200 tons. It is important to note that screw chillers have only one compressor, so a loss in the compressor would cause a complete loss in chiller capacity. Screw chillers typically have very good full-load and part-load kW/ton efficiencies.
How does a scroll chiller work?
A scroll compressor works by using two interleaving scrolls, meaning one scroll within the other, to compress fluids, in this case refrigerant. In the case of water-cooled chillers, scroll chillers usually have multiple compressors in one or two refrigeration circuits.
Which type of chiller is best?
Water-Cooled Chillers
- Water-cooled chillers are generally more efficient than air-cooled chillers.
- They have a quieter operation than air-cooled systems.
- They are suitable for both small-scale and commercial-scale cooling.
- Portable solutions are available for facilities with space constraints.
How long do air-cooled chillers last?
According to Consulting-Specifying Engineer Magazine, the median life cycle of a water-cooled chiller is 20-30 years, while air-cooled chillers have a life expectancy of 15-20 years.
Which compressor is better rotary or scroll?
The rotary compressor has more power and can therefore cool more air than a scroll unit. Rotary compressors are therefore a better option in larger central air conditioning system but might be wasted in a smaller central unit or in a window air conditioner.
