Do cats understand when you talk to them?
Cats lack the cognitive skills to interpret human language, but they recognize when you talk to them. To put it another way, cats comprehend human language in the same way that we understand meowing.
Do cats know certain words?
Felines can associate words with body language, tone of voice, and vocalization and connect them with playtime, rewards or treats, feeding, petting, and other actions. Cats do not understand or distinguish certain words better than others.
Do cats understand human crying?
Your cat is there for you… Cats may not be emotionally intelligent enough to realize that you need comfort when you’re sad, but they are receptive to the concept that you’re paying them attention. If your cat associates your sadness with love and attention, it’s going to seek you out at your low points.
