What are options files?
Options files are text files that are read by the Flexnet license manager, and implement rules and restrictions to concurrent FlexLM licenses. Options files serve as an interface for license administrators to apply preferences for usage of licenses within license pools.
What is Lmgrd?
The license manager daemon, lmgrd , is one of two components which comprise the license server (the other being the vendor daemon). It handles the initial contact with FLEXlm-licensed applications, passing the connection on to the appropriate vendor daemon.

Who owns FLEXlm?
FLEXlm was originally a joint development of GLOBEtrotter Software and Highland Software in 1988. GLOBEtrotter was then acquired by Macrovision in 2000, which renamed the product FlexNet. In 2008 the company was sold to Acresso Software, and it’s name was changed to Flexera.
