The mission of Best Buddies is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
What do Best Buddies volunteers do?
Each High School Best Buddies chapter requires committed students to create friendships in their school and teachers to help ensure that the chapter runs smoothly. Student volunteers can also take on a leadership role with their chapter in addition to being matched with another student.
How does the Best Buddies program work?
Best Buddies High School Club promotes one-on-one friendships between students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those without a disability, within the school. This program tries to break social barriers at a difficult time in a teenager’s life, with or without a disability.
