The Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF), formerly the Auxiliary Air Force (AAF), together with the Air Force Reserve, is a component of Her Majesty’s Reserve Air Forces (Reserve Forces Act 1996, Part 1, Para 1,(2),(c)).
How long is training for the RAF?
Basic recruit training takes place over 10 weeks at RAF Halton for Airmen entrants or 24 weeks at RAF Cranwell for Officer entrants. It will make your family member fitter and more confident and prepare them to carry out their role in the RAF.

Is RAF training hard?

What rank is Leading Aircraftman?
Leading aircraftman (LAC) or leading aircraftwoman (LACW) is the second rank in the Royal Air Force, and some other Commonwealth air force. The rank is a NATO OR-2 rank, which is the same NATO code as senior aircraftman. Leading aircraftman ranks below senior aircraftman.
Do you get paid for basic training RAF?
When training with the RAF you will be paid from the beginning. While in the RAF your day-to-day living costs are dramatically lower, meaning you end up with more disposable cash in your pocket. Can you have long hair in the RAF?
Yes there are hair requirements in the RAF, they’re detailed in Queen’s Regulations Chapter 6, Order 209. But for simplicity: “The hair of the head is to be well cut and trimmed. Sideburns are to be short and well trimmed and are not to extend below a line running through the mid point of the ear.
Do the RAF teach you to fly?
Your specialist training begins with Elementary Flying Training, flying the Tutor or Prefect aircraft. You will then be streamed to fast jet; multi-engine or rotary (helicopter) flying training.
Do you get shouted at in the RAF?
Nobody is going to scream at you because you’re asking an instructor to repeat themselves, however you will absolutely get screamed at and probably a lot worse if you miss an instruction and go ahead and do your own thing anyway.
