What is the difference between embossed and debossed?
Embossing is when you raise a logo or other image to create a 3D graphic. This raised design is achieved by pushing a metal die into paper, card stock (or other chosen material) from underneath. Debossing is the opposite of embossing as you are creating an indent in the material you are using.
What is a debossed pill?
Debossed means imprinted with a mark below the dosage form surface. Drug product means a finished dosage form, e.g., a tablet or capsule that contains a drug substance, generally, but not necessarily, in association with one or more other ingredients.
Who created embossing?
The printing of embossed books for blind people began at the end of the eighteenth century, after Valentin Haüy invented the process of embossing letters from the standard Roman alphabet on paper in 1784 in Paris.
How do you Deboss paper?
The process requires the creation of a metal plate, called a die, with the raised graphic you want embossed. The plate is then pressed into the material from underneath. The pressure raises the paper and creates the embossed design that is etched on the die.
What is debossed printing?
Debossing is essentially the opposite of embossing, leaving a depressed imprint of your design in the material of your choice. Your design is printed directly on the material so that the area around the die impression can be raised, rather than raising the logo or image itself.
Why do medicines have a middle line?
Many pills that can be safely split have a “score”, a line down the middle of the pill, that allows for easier splitting. However, be aware that not all tablets that are scored are safe to split in half, so ask your pharmacist first. On the other hand, some tablets that are not scored can be safely cut in half.
