Can a car run if the gas line is dry?
The gas line can’t be completely dry, otherwise it wouldn’t run at all. You say it will run as long as you are pressimn on the gas pedal. I think Tester (above) is probably right. That’s where to check first anyway, imo. If that brings no joy, a fuel pressure test is probably next.
Is the compression on my 357xp good or bad?
Got the cylinder plug for my 357xp to replace the auto decomp valve, and the compression seems good. I know, I need to do a compression test to be sure, but it feels like the compression is good and I can suspend the saw (with bar attached) by the starter rope and it holds.

What to do if your engine is not getting gas?
There are compression tests that you can perform on the engine, and they will take a special gauge set up. The other abstract issue you may have is poor fuel quality. This is rare these days, but if the fuel is older, it may be bad. You will want to clean and drain not only the fuel tank, but the fuel lines as well.
Why does my car not start when there is no fuel?
When that happens, you get into your car and try to start the engine when it has NO fuel pressure. Since the battery is low on charge at a time when the engine needs even more power, you drain the battery trying to start with no fuel. By the time the fuel pressure builds, the battery may be so low that it can’t crank the engine fast enough to fire.
Can a car run without fresh gasoline in it?
You can’t have a good working engine without fresh pure gasoline flowing into it at all times. If you don’t have a good fuel filter to prevent the impurities of the fuel from flowing into the engine, then it could ultimately jeopardize the performance of your engine.

Why does my Car Crank but won’t fire up?
Worn spark plugs can cause a “cranks but won’t fire up condition.” Worn spark plugs produce a weak spark that’s not hot enough to ignite cold fuel. If you haven’t changed your spark plugs according to the car makers recommendations, they can leave you with a car won’t start when cold or worm condition.
