How do you grow a sacred lotus?
This is how I like to plant my lotus:
- Put a couple inches of sand in the bottom of your pot.
- Make a slight indentation for your tuber.
- Lightly cover the tuber with more soil.
- Slowly add water, not too much, you want wet mud.
- Keep the planted tuber warm.
- Sunlight is not important until leaves appear.
Is sacred lotus invasive?
Sacred Lotus is very showy and attractive, but potentially invasive of some wetland habitats should it escape. The native species, Nelumbo lutea (American Lotus), is also very showy and attractive, and it can spread aggressively in some wetland habitats as well.
