A 14-year-old lion at the Brookfield Zoo near Chicago mysteriously fell into her enclosure’s dry moat and died less than two weeks after her mate was put down for age-related issues, officials said. Brookfield Zoo is open 365 days a year from 10 am to 5 pm with extended hours for special events. Admission is $24.95 for ages 12-64, $19.95 for ages 65+, $17.95 for ages 3-11, children 2 and under are free. Groups of 15 or more may purchase tickets in advance. Additional parking fees apply.
Why is the gorilla exhibit at Brookfield Zoo closed?
Scientific evidence has found that gorillas are one of the species that is very susceptible to the COVID-19 virus. The health, welfare, and safety of both our magnificent animals and guests remain our top priority. Until we are able to vaccinate our gorillas, Tropic World: Africa will remain temporarily closed.
