Are all Moen rough-in valves the same?
Moen has manufactured many types of shower rough-in valves including four types single handle shower valves. The trim kits are not interchangeable. It is important to first identify which valve is currently installed by looking at the escutcheon screw location and the handle operation.
Can a Moen shower valve be installed upside down?
If it was installed upside down, it will need to be reinstalled in the correct orientation. Many valves will have the word “up” printed on the valve. If this is a two-handle model, then inspect the flow director (diverter) in the valve. Depending on the location of the water supplies, it may need to be reversed.
Are all shower rough-in valves the same?
All of these terms are basically interchangeable. They reference shut-off devices built into the shower valve. Not all rough-in Valves have stops. They are not actually necessary in all installations.
What is the difference between Moen 2520 and 2570?
The 2520 shower valve does not have stops to shut the water off to the valve. The Moen 2570 Rough-In PosiTemp Pressure Balancing Cycling Shower Valve with Stops, 1/2-Inch CC has the capability of turning the water off at the valve. The 2520 shower valve does not have stops to shut the water off to the valve.
Are Moen rough-in valves universal?
For many years Moen tub/shower valves have been manufactured using one of three valves. These valves are Standard, Posi-Temp and Moentrol. Although the look is similar, the trim is not necessarily interchangeable. If this is the way your Moen valve operates, any Posi-Temp trim will fit.
What happens if I install my shower valve upside down?
Installing it upside down with a diverter spout would mean the shower always flowed water even if the diverter was not operated. Reversing the cartridge just interchanges the hot and cold sides. You have to rotate the valve body to reorient the diverter/shower head functions.
Can a shower mixing valve be installed upside down?
In any position, the thermostatic mixing valve can be installed. Either upside down or sideways.
