What do you feed Sunburst Anthias?
Once acclimated to a new aquarium, anthias do best when fed a varied diet of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched >frozen brine shrimp, and over time may eat high-quality flake foods offered in small quantities throughout the day.
What do you feed anthias?
They eat small organisms that float around in the water column, including copepods, crustacean larvae, and fish eggs. They are very active, flitting about the water column, picking off zooplanktors.
How big do Sunburst Anthias get?
Size can also range between species but most anthias are under around 7-8 inches in length and the majority available in the aquarium trade are around 3-5 inches in length. Anthias are planktivores and feed primarily on zooplankton, tiny animals found in the water column.
Do Anthias eat copepods?
Anthias eat copepods…. calenoid ones. Mandarins eat harpacticoid ones. Actually Mandrins will eat both as long as the amphipods are small enough.
Are anthias aggressive?
Temperament: In general, Lyretail Anthias are peaceful fish that will get along with other tank inhabitants, so long as they are provided a proper diet and enough room to freely swim about. When underfed or kept in cramped conditions, they have been known to become aggressive towards smaller, more passive fish.
Will anthias eat pellets?
Over time most will adapt to eat anything and they learn from other fish during feeding frenzy to eat other stuff. A had a bimaculatus female that refused to eat anything but mysis for many months before coming around. Now they all eat frozen, flakes (mostly ocean nutrition prime reef) and sometimes small pellets.

This colorful fish is relatively hardy, active, and accepting of multiple environments and tankmates. Lyretail Anthias form very large aggregations in shallow reefs, where they spend the day picking small plankton out of the water. These fish need both room to swim as well as ledges or rockwork to hide/rest in.
How many anthias should I get?
Not only is it colorful, but it is also one of the hardiest species. They tend to be aggressive so only one male per tank should be the maximum, along with several females, a ratio of 1:5 is a good starting point. They should not be kept with less aggressive anthias, fairy and flasher wrasses or dart gobies.
