What is Oxtellar used to treat?
Oxcarbazepine extended-release tablets (Oxtellar XR) are used in combination with other medications to control certain types of seizures in adults and children 6 years of age and older. Oxcarbazepine is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
When should I take Oxtellar XR?
Take the Oxtellar XR extended-release tablet on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. You may take the Oxtellar XR oral liquid or regular tablet with or without food. Swallow the extended-release tablet whole and do not crush, chew, or break it. You may need frequent blood tests.
