What can I use instead of Savacol?
An alternative product is now available which also has a 0.2% chlorhexidine but has been modified so it tastes better and is far less likely to stain your teeth. This product is called Curasept 0.2% and is available from certain pharmacies and our front desk as is Savacol.

What is Savacol used for?
Savacol Antiseptic Mouth & Throat Rinse was used to reduce dental plaque, the incidence of gingivitis and to relieve the discomfort of mouth ulcers. The contaminating bacteria are Burkholderia cepacia and B. stabilis.
How long should you use Savacol for?
This should be used one week then stop for three weeks, repeat monthly. Alternatively use this for 2 consecutive days per week. A widely obtainable alternative is Savacol Freshmint (make sure it is the Freshmint).

I recommend Colgate NeutraFluor 220 Alcohol Free mouthwash. For people with gum related issues (gingivitis), I recommend an anti-plaque or anti-gingivitis rinse such as Listerine. If you want an all-round mouth-rinse, I would recommend the Oral B Clinical or Multi Protection or Listerine Total Care.
Can I swallow Savacol?
Do not swallow. Avoid contact with eyes. If in eyes, rinse well with water.
