How long should a Saniflo last?
10 to 15 years
The lifetime of a Saniflo depends mainly on proper installation and proper use. However, devices typically have a lifetime of 10 to 15 years with minimal maintenance, i.e. cleaning-descaling annually, and, depending on the quality of the water in your region, the replacement of the pressure switch membrane.
Why wont my Saniflo stop running?
If your Saniflo won’t turn off, the likely cause is a blockage in the system. There may be a blockage in the macerator, pump or the waste outlet pipe. Alternatively, there may be a fault with the return valve or damage to the unit’s rubber membrane. Occasionally, this is caused by the microswitch misfiring.
Why does my Saniflo toilet keep running?
If the pump keeps randomly firing at different times of the day and night, then it’s likely you have a problem with the microswitch. This could be caused by either a fault with the rubber membrane that activates the switch or it could be that waste is lodged between the switch and the floor.
Do Saniflows need servicing?
Saniflo Macerators require regular maintenance to ensure they are kept clean, free of limescale and in good working order. To avoid damaging a macerator, it is important to use a specially developed saniflo descaler product to clean and descale whilst being gentle on the system.
How do you fix a blocked Saniflo?
If it’s a blockage in the pump, you will need to remove the motor from the Saniflo and turn it upside down, so the pump impellers are visible. Again, using small pliers, remove the blockage and replace the motor back into the Saniflo.

How do you descale a Saniflo toilet?
Pour 1-2.5 litres of Toilet Cleaner & Macerator Descaler into the toilet bowl. Turn the macerator pump on for a few seconds to allow the descaler to enter the macerator. Turn the macerator off again and allow to work for 2 hours. Do not flush the toilet during this time.
How often should you descale Saniflo?
It is recommended that Saniflo Descaler is used for up to 3-4 times per year depending on water hardness in your area. Most of our work is in London and the water is seriously hard in some places. So we ourselves recommend you descale a Saniflo 3 times per year.
