Can you still get Virtual Console games on Wii U?
The Wii U and 3DS are currently only a few ways players can access many retro titles without needing to purchase legacy hardware. The Wii U’s Virtual Console is currently the most modern platform through which players can access Nintendo 64, DS, Game Boy Colour and Super NES titles.
Can you play SNES games with Wii remote?
Normally you can’t use a Wii remote by itself to control a SNES game. If you hold down 2 when you boot it up, and continue holding it until it loads, a prompt will pop up warning you that the Wii remote may not have enough buttons and you’ll have to reconfigure them, but to click Yes to continue.

Nintendo has announced that as of January 2022, credit card support for the 3DS and Wii U eShops will be shut down. That last point makes the closure of the 3DS and Wii U eShops particularly ironic.

Is Wii U eShop still working?
Nintendo recently announced they will no longer be allowing certain payment methods in the 3DS and Wii U eShops in early 2022. The digital storefronts are not closing just yet though. Many Wii U games have not made it to the Switch, especially for fans of some of Nintendo’s earlier consoles.
