Why do I have to let off the gas for my car to shift?
Typically this is caused by either a sticking internal valve in the transmission, or it may be the vacuum module for the transmission. Most of the time this is caused by an internal transmission issue. If the engine is running fine and is producing the correct sensor signals then the transmission is the problem.
Do you have to let off the gas when using slap shift?
Think of your auto-stick as a clutchless manual. There is no clutch to engage to change gears so no need to lift off of the gas. Stay in the gas when shifting in auto-stick. Or you can leave the shifter alone and stay in the gas and the computer will change the auto-stick gears for you.
When to shift from 2nd to 1st gear?
– When I hit the throttle hard until 4000 rpm and let off it shifts at about 2500 rpm. When 2nd gear is engaged, If I continue with a heavy load on the throttle it downshift into 1st. To keep the 2nd gear, I must be soft on the throttle. I notice also that if I put the lever in 1 I don’t have engine braking ?
Why does my transmission not shift from 1st to 2nd?
Transmission started acting up today. Drove truck about 3 hours on expressway unloaded, no trailer, and when getting off highway on off ramp, I started from dead stop, 1st gear fine, but it would not shift to 2nd gear without letting up off fuel pedal. The RMS were up over 3000 and it would still not shift.
Why does my Chevy Silverado not shift into 2nd?
Transmission shifting is based on 3 major factors: 1- vehicle speed 2- engine vacuum 3- throttle position However there are other factors that also play into it but probably wont cause issues as bad as you are describing. It sounds like you have replaced TPS and VSS and verified those.

What should the governor pressure be in drive stopped?
In drive stopped the governor pressure should be 0 psi and as you start accelerating the pressure should rise. I use a scan tool along with a pressure gauge hooked to the governor pressure port on the right side of the transmission then I compare to make sure the sensor is working properly.
How are up shifts and down shifts controlled?
Your up shifts are controlled by governor pressure and your down shifts are controlled by throttle pressure and here are the things you should check! 1-Check your throttle valve cable on the driver front side of the transmission. It connects to a throttle valve lever.
