The 12 V battery (located in the trunk of our previous Camry Hybrids did not start the engine, rather booted up the electronics, and the electric motor generator actually started up the ICE engine. I realize the Hybrid systems vary between the two, just wondering.
Can a Honda CRV engine auto stop with the AC on?
If I recall correctly, with the AC on.. the engine will not auto-stop as long as the climate control senses the need for the AC to be active. So that part takes care of itself. As for wear and tear, yeah.. probably some additional but the real question is… will components ever fail in the normal useful years of a 2020?

There is no setting to permanently disable it. Actually the AC cycles down when idles kick in – njever completely stops. In addition to more starter motor use my concern is when there is a weak battery.
