What does VCM cause?

What does VCM cause?

When VCM disengages, the engine then misfires if needing to clear the cylinder of oil. This unique type of oil consumption has led to premature failure of parts like spark plugs, catalytic converters, engine mounts, pistons/rings, and cylinder walls.

Is there a problem with the Honda VCM?

From what I’ve heard Honda’s VCM doesn’t have any long standing problems, it’s just that it’s not really effective in saving a meaningful amount of fuel. I do know that the radios in vehicles with VCM will pump in white noise to try to drown out the strange/uneven noises that the engine makes when running on 3 cylinders.

Is there a 4 cylinder Honda Civic VCM?

The only 4 cylinder that has it is the one in the newer hybrid Civics. From what I’ve heard Honda’s VCM doesn’t have any long standing problems, it’s just that it’s not really effective in saving a meaningful amount of fuel.

How does a bad VTC cause an engine failure?

The bad VTC causes a drag on the timing chain every time it grinds at start-up. Over time that small drag stresses the timing chain TENSIONER, until it eventually fails. With the timing chain tensioner no longer keeping the chain at constant tension a skipped or broken chain is just a question of time.

How many cylinders does a VCM engine have?

Since 2006 they have improved VCM considerably by making it operate on 6,4, or 3 cylinders as opposed to just the 3 or 6 cylinder operation the older engines (including ours) had. It operates seamlessly, with no other way to tell that its operating other than a little “eco” light on the dashboard.

Why does my Honda Odyssey have engine failure?

These Honda V6 motors are a great piece of engineering, but the one major change exactly coincident with these problems has been the addition of VCM. I’m convinced it’s the culprit, based on all of the threads and posts on this forum. The evidence you present is compelling.
