Why are the brake lights not working but the tail lights are?
Blown out light bulbs are the most common reason for why the brake lights not working but the tail lights are. Remove the screws from the bulb lens (which you can access through the trunk or see your vehicle repair manual to get the exact location). Push the bulbs and turn them counterclockwise to remove from the socket.
Where are the fuse boxes on an Acura TL?
There are 3 fuse boxes on the 2nd Gen TL. Driver’s side front door well, passenger side door well, under the hood passenger side. Also, which lights stopped working?

The easiest light to get to to test out would probably be the shifter light. Take a flathead and pop off the plastic trim around the shifter. Take off the diffuser thing and the light is under there.
