Are dogs allowed in Dan yr Ogof caves?
Friendly family dogs are permitted into the Showcaves, but dogs must be on a short lead at all times, with owners having ‘doggy bags’. Dogs are NOT permitted into the Shire Horse Centre area where the Farm, Play Areas and Millennium Stone Circles are situated.
Who discovered Dan yr Ogof caves?
Two Brothers, Tommy and Jeff Morgan were farmers who in 1912 discovered the famous ‘Dan Yr Ogof Caves’. They first found a small passageway leading off from the main cave river. Their initial explorations of the cave system lead, many years later, to over 10 miles of cave passageways being found.
Where is the white lady cave?
The cave takes it’s name from a white boss and stalagmite that resembles a seated lady. The cave is located in the Nedd Fechan valley downstream of Bridge Cave.
What do you wear to Dan yr Ogof caves?
Although there are good pathways throughout the Showcaves, sensible sturdy footwear is advisable. Do we need special clothes and footwear when visiting the Showcaves? We suggest you allow a minimum of 2½ – 3 hours.

All but a handful of the caves in these systems are the sole preserve of the experienced caver, but certain sections are much easier to access. Simply forget about everything for a magical few days in this unspoilt part of Wales! The site, together with the toilet block facilities, have been completely redesigned and renovated over the past 2 years. Advanced bookings are only required in school holidays and Bank Holidays.
