Can you adjust an electric choke?
The choke operation (opening and closing) can be adjusted by rotating the choke cap. There is a center pointer and index marks on the choke mounting (see right) along with an index mark on the thermostatic choke caps.
Where is the choke plate on an Edelbrock car?
Open the hood of the car and remove the air cleaner. On the right side of the carburetor, locate a black, round disc held in place by three screws. Two wires are plugged into the disc and provide power to heat the internal coil that expands and contracts to open and close the choke plate.
What do you need to know about an air conditioner choke?
Two wires are plugged into the disc and provide power to heat the internal coil that expands and contracts to open and close the choke plate. Loosen the screws, but do not remove them. On top of the choke are index marks, and the factory preset is midway between the marks.
What causes loss of power and bogging down?
The mixture of this air and fuel must be rather precise in order to combust within the cylinder. If there is much air, or too much fuel being delivered you will experience power loss and/or bogging down. With that said.. lets get down to the troubleshooting:
Which is better a resistor or a choke?
For low-power (or “built to a price”) circuits a resistor would suffice, but for higher-power and/or better-quality circuits a choke (filter inductor) was ideal, because it improved voltage regulation and also reduced peak current (using a resistor to limit charging current into the filter capacitor worsens voltage regulation, of course).
Do you need to wire an electric choke on your ignition?
Most stock primary ignition circuits are wired through a resistance wire, which only allows about 8.6 to 9.6 volts to the coil. This would not be enough voltage to properly operate your electric choke. When using any of the other American Autowire wiring KITS such as a Classic Update, Power Plus, Highway, or Builder Series,…
When to use a choke on an engine?
The choke should only be used when cold-starting an engine and will hinder engine performance if left closed or partially closed. The engine’s carburetor may need to be cleaned, rebuilt or replaced. Depending on the cost of the carburetor, it may be cheaper to purchase a new carburetor than to purchase a rebuild kit and take the time to rebuild it.

Is there an auto choke on the gx150?
The choke on the GX150 carburettor is actually an enrichening circuit and in reality does not choke off any airflow at all. The auto-choke is ON in it’s natural state.
