Why does my GMC Sierra 1500 not shift?
74 people found this helpful. Just get someone to shift it while you watch the cable on the drivers side of the tranny. You should see the cable rotate the shifter. If it ran good, you parked it, it got f’in cold and now it doesn’t work maybe you have some water in the system, a line may be frozen (never heard of this though).

Is the brake switch witch on my GMC Sierra 1500?

I’d suggest checking the shift linkage on the transmission to see if the cable came off. This is due to the connector end bushing falling apart and not being able to hold the cable on any longer. Some cables have to be replaced as a whole and as with others the bushing can be replaced to fix the cable.
Why is the shift button not working on my Silverado 4×4?
It is not the auto system with the button,but the manual system with the 4WD shift handle on the floor. I see a linkage on the tranny case to the 4WD shifter,and the electrical actuator on the front differential.

What to do when your shifter won’t shift out of Park?
The only way to fix it is if you put the key in, move it slightly forward. Once you do this, it releases the shifter and you can shift it into neutral. Once you do that, you can start the car and shift freely. It’s just Park that it get’s stuck.
