If you turn off the engine, let it sit undisturbed for a couple days then check the oil level again on the cold engine. Wherever this new level shows on the dipstick would you not be able to make a scratch mark on the dip stick that would then be equal to the “full” level of a properly warmed up engine? I think that would probably work.
