What do the SRR do?
The Special Reconnaissance Regiment conducts surveillance operations mainly concerning, but not limited to, “counter-terrorism” activities. It was formed to relieve the Special Air Service and the Special Boat Service of that role and is believed to contain around 500–700 personnel.
Where are the SRR based?
The SRR is believed to be based alongside the SAS at RHQ Credenhill, near Hereford.
Do the SAS have a beret?
The sand-coloured beret of the Special Air Service is officially designated the beige beret. The beige beret was worn from 1942 till 1944. In 1958 all SAS personnel switched from maroon to beige. Personnel attached to the regiment also wear this beret but with their own badges in accordance with usual British practice.

When was the Reconnaissance Corps of the British Army formed?
It was formed from infantry brigade reconnaissance groups on 14 January 1941. All the brigade reconnaissance groups of each infantry corps were formed into reconnaissance battalions, each usually bearing the number of its relevant division.

Members of the recce troops (carrier and dingo crews and the assault troops) would generally wear the Reconnaissance Corps cap badge with Reconnaissance Corps shoulder titles, with the rest of the sleeve being the same as for the tank troops.
