What is needed for a K24 swap?
Here’s a list of what you’ll need to make a swap:
- The complete engine with all components (fuel lines, wiring harnesses, etc) and a complete transmission to match.
- A full suite of accessories, hopefully already mounted to the engine you’re using.
- The engine control unit (ECU) from the original car.
Which K24 is best for swap?
The tsx will be the best k24 block but will also be the most expensive by a lot. k24a2, tsx motor~ $2500-3k. K24a3 and K24a4, accord and element block, need to change pistons, usually a lot cheaper, $500-$900.
Does a K24 have VTEC?
This motor has no VTEC mechanism on the exhaust cam and runs on 12 valves before 2200rpm with the other 4 slightly opening. It also has smaller ports than the Type S and Type R. If using a K24a4 block the pistons will need to be swapped with aftermarket or a1, a2 pistons to avoid valve to piston contact.
Can a Civic Si be swapped for a JDM K24A?
Sharing the same intake manifold mounting pattern, coolant passage design, and many core part designs allows it to be transformed into a powerplant for the 8th gen Civic Si that maintains stock hoses, intake, wire harness, and exhaust. A perfect Honda coincidence.
Which is better Honda K20Z3 or K24A?
Honda’s RBB K24A engine is a perfect upgrade compared to the K20Z3 in a daily driven 2006-2011 Civic Si. While the engine does not maintain the square bore/stroke ratio that allow the K20’s to easil achieve 10k RPM glory, the added torque (+ 30 lb·ft) due to the deep stroking 2.4L adds a perfect upgrade for a daily driver.
When did the Honda K24A2 come out?
A perfect Honda coincidence. Like it’s USDM K24A2 counterpart the JDM RBB K24A comes in two major flavors 2004-2005 and 2006-2008 variations. The 2006-2008 variant is sought after due to improvements in connecting rod strength, under piston oil squirters, and camshaft design.
What kind of engine is in Civic Si K20Z3?
In fact the 2006-2008 have been shown to have a VTEC lift deeper than K20 Type R camshafts. Both variation have longer duration on primary, secondary, and VTEC lobes as compared to the high perfomance K20 variations. The hunt for a new engine began when our daily driven 8th gen Civic Si K20Z3 began getting tired.
