Does spark increase with RPM?
It’s my understanding that under normal operation spark advance is directly proportional to RPM, i.e. as RPM increases so does spark advance due to the need to ignite the AFM earlier the quicker the piston is moving. As you can see, the spark advance here is inversely proportional ( a mirror image ) of the RPM graph.
Is there no spark from distributor to spark plugs?
Q: No spark from distributor cap to spark plugs. Car died while driving. Wouldn’t start again. I did basic No start troubleshooting. Tested from the ignition coil to the distributor is good, from the cap itself no power. I replaced the cap, rotor, tfi, distributor itself, and the ignition coil. Same results.
How are spark plugs used to keep the engine running?
The spark plugs utilize the spark from the distributor to ignite the fuel mixture, which is what keeps the engine running. High voltage runs through this entire distributor system during the operation of your vehicle, but if there’s an issue this voltage won’t get distributed to the correct spark plugs to ensure that your engine will run.
