Since Rice is in the heart of Houston, there is a ton of stuff to do: theater, museums, bars, clubs, ethnic locations… anything you can imagine. As a student, I stayed up late to hang out with people, just talking or hanging out, but I would also have to do homework.

It has good academic programs and its music school and architecture school are some of the best in the country. Houston isn’t quite as lively as NYC, for example, but around campus we have a lot of restaurants and shopping areas. They are within walking distance. Also, the actual Rice campus is pretty.

Rice is great because of the diversity and quality of it’s academic offerings given it’s size. Undergraduates have great opportunities to get involved with research (I did, and I’m shy). The residential college system is really great, and builds a really strong community. Rice’s administration is good overall.
