Women are best wearing either dress pants or a shorter skirt underneath the gown, while men should choose khakis or dark-colored dress pants. Avoid brightly coloured bottoms if you choose to wear dress pants or a longer skirt, as they can be seen below the hem of the gown and stick to darker colours.

Depending on the school, milestone and celebration photos may be taken with a graduation gown or in casual clothes. A collared shirt pairs nicely with the graduation gown. Our photographers will have some on hand in case your child doesn’t own one. All props will be provided by Edge on the day of the shoot.

Can I wear my graduation gown open?
Zip your graduation gown all the way up before the ceremony starts! DON’T: Keep your gown unzipped. You may want it unzipped for pictures before and after graduation (we love your outfit too!) for photos or when you are walking around, but during the ceremony this is not the proper look!
What do you wear when you graduate with a masters degree?
There are subtle differences to the regalia worn at graduation. The bachelor’s degree recipient wears a plain black gown with a bell sleeve and a red tassel on the cap, or mortar board, and no hood. The master’s degree recipient wears a black tassel, a colored hood and a gown that has a visibly odd sleeve.
