What happens when you put your car in 3rd gear?
Yesterday i went to put my car into 3rd gear and it popped back into neutral once i put my foot on the power, stays in 3rd with no power. I dont have much idea when it comes to a cars mechanics, im going to take it down to my local garage after work but just wanted some ideas as to what it could be?
Why does my car keep popping out of 3rd gear?
If a mount is worn/loose/gubbed, the engine is able to rotate more than it should. This can have the effect of basically moving the engine, gearbox, and lever arm on the gearbox, to which the gear linkage is attached, away from the stick, pulling itself out of gear.
What kind of car pops out of neutral?
My Volvo 940 does this in 5th gear. It will drive along fine for a while, then all of a sudden pop out into neutral. No idea if it can be fixed or not. So i’ll be keeping an eye on this thread for ideas

When does the gearshift pop out of neutral?
Occasionally the gearshift will actually pop out of third gear back into neutral. It has happened randomly, but also it has happened at least once when I hit a rather large bump, it seemed to have literally knocked it loose from third gear.
