Is the Honda Civic battery good for a cold start?
If it’s strong, the battery is fine. Honda alternators are usually good for like 8-10 years, so I’d be surprised if that were failing, but even if it were, you’d have symptoms 100% of the time, not just on cold starts. Autozone/Advance will check your battery for free, just in case.
How to solve Honda idle issues, rough idle?
When watching the Honda idle video please remember that adjusting the FITV is the LAST step in the process and you need to back it off at least 1/2 turn after it bottoms out or it will not start properly when cold. I have many of you come to me and say that you’ve adjusted the FITV and you still have an issue.
Can a FITV cause a Honda to idle?
The FITV is not the only thing that can cause an idle issue with your Honda so be sure to follow ALL the steps first before making that adjustment. If playback doesn’t begin shortly, try restarting your device.
Why does my 2012 Honda Civic not start?
If it’s a 2012 with the factory battery, that’s definitely a possibility. However, I think if the battery were dying, the engine wouldn’t even crank for 10 seconds, so there’s probably more going on here. To get to the root of it, an internal combustion engine needs 3 things to run: air, spark, and fuel.
What should the idle speed be on a Honda Civic?
Turn off the car. Reconnect the IACV, and reset the ECU by unplugging the back-up fuse. Restart the engine, and the idle speed should be in the 620 to 720 rpm range. Replacing the entire throttle body is probably the best option if this is the case, but that’s an expensive fix.

What causes a lumpy idle on a Honda Civic?
A failing IACV will result in a hunting idle (where the revs go up and down without accelerator input) or a lumpy idle (where the idle will fall until the ECU compensates and rises it again repeatedly). To fix this, either replace the IACV or clean it. Figure 2. Idle air control valve
What are the symptoms of a 1995 civic?
The symptoms are: – Idles at just above 0 RPM, all the time (on start, hot, cold, wet, dry, etc) – During acceleration, the scar sputters (as if water were in the gas or something)

Why does my civic battery drain after 3 days?
My old battery would drain over 3 days because of my remote start system. If it’s a 2012 with the factory battery, that’s definitely a possibility. However, I think if the battery were dying, the engine wouldn’t even crank for 10 seconds, so there’s probably more going on here.
How does a Honda Civic fuel return system work?
To clarify Honda does not use a fuel return system. The fuel pressure is regulated at the fuel pump inside the tank. The pressure regulator (relief) valve may have allowed fuel in the line to drain back into the tank. Which when starting the engine would require a longer crank time to get the fuel system back up to pressure.
Can a bad throttle body cause a cold start?
Clogged filters don’t typically cause hard cold starts and bad throttle bodies cause a lot of other problems, so I think you’re in the clear here. Spark goes to the plugs by way of the coil packs by way of the battery and alternator.
