Do JL Audio amps have fuses?
If your amplifier fails or malfunctions, please return it to your authorized JL Audio dealer so that it may be sent in to JL Audio for service. There are no user serviceable parts or fuses inside the amplifier. This will not only void the warranty, but may result in the creation of more problems within the amplifier.

Can you bridge 4 speakers 4 channel amp?
Minimum speaker loads for wiring a 4 channel amp to 4 speakers and a subwoofer. As I mentioned above, most car amps today can handle a 2 ohm load per stereo channel (left & right channels) and 4 ohms minimum when bridged to drive an amplifier (called “mono”).
How do you hook up 4 speakers to a 4 channel amp?
There are 3 basic ways to get a signal to your 4 channel amplifier:
- Connect speaker outputs to your amp’s speaker level inputs.
- Connect a line-level adapter to the radio then use RCA cables to the amp.
- Connect your radio to the amp using RCA cables directly.
What Does bridging an amp do to ohms?
Bridging an amplifier cuts the resistance load (measured in Ohms) in half, because each channel of the bridged pair sees one half of the speaker load. So, if your amplifier is 4 Ohms, your bridged channels will be 2 Ohms.
Will an amp turn on if the fuse is blown?
If the fuse is present and blown, the amp can’t turn on because the circuit providing mains voltage is open. Simply replacing the fuse may or may not solve the problem.
What happens if amp fuse blows?
If the amp fuse keeps blowing, the power wire–the wire that goes to the battery or a hot connection–may be grounding out. That fuse exists for just this purpose–to blow before the internals of the amplifier become ruined. It is made to fail so that the more expensive components stay intact.
What should the impedance of a JL Audio amplifier be?
The bottom line: Optimum power, at any impedance between 1.5 ohm and 4 ohm per channel, at any vehicle voltage between 11V and 14.5V. JL Audio’s exclusive Advanced Rollback Protection circuit monitors the amplifier’s thermal condition and adjusts amplifier operation to eliminate annoying amplifier shut-down events.
How are differential balanced inputs measured in JL Audio?
JL Audio’s Differential-Balanced Input circuits measure the center pin of the RCA connection relative to the RCA shield, even when the shield is not connected to ground, and even when the voltages at both conductors are moving relative to ground.
Is there an optional JL Audio HD stack kit?
Optional HD Stack Kit: Permits stacking of one HD amp to another HD amp (sold separately). JL Audio’s Differential-Balanced Inputs are engineered to combat induced cable noise, which is a common problem in car and marine audio installations.
What happens when I short my HD amplifier?
If a short is present, you will experience distorted and/or attenuated output. The “Status” LED will turn amber (yellow) in this situation. It may be helpful to disconnect the speaker wires from the amplifier and use a different set of wires connected to a test speaker.
