Are the campsites open on Mount Charleston?
Fletcher View Campground has 11 sites and is open year round. Fletcher View Campground is nestled along the Kyle Canyon wash, so reservations are not available during the monsoon season (mid-July to mid-September).
Are campfires allowed at Mount Charleston?
Year-round fire strictions include*: Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, or stovefire. The ONLY exceptions are stoves using portable fuel with an On/Off switch or knob, or campfires within the provided rings or grills at developed camp and picnic sites.

Fleas and ticks are very rare in the Las Vegas Valley. If hiking in Red Rock Canyon or the Mount Charleston area, ticks are possible to get on your dog.

Pets must be leashed at other developed facilities such as the visitor center, Willow Springs picnic area, and Red Rock overlook. Due to the extreme temperatures in the Canyon, pet owners should never leave their pets unattended inside their vehicles, and you should bring plenty of water for your pet as well.

When these animals died from 15 million to 20 million years ago, their carcasses settled to the ocean floor and were embedded in submarine sediments. But since then, the violent upthrusting of the Andean chain has carried the sediments to the tops of mountains.
