You can mail Battle.net Account-bound items to your other characters that reside on a different realm or faction on the same Battle.net account. To send cross-realm mail you need to enter the character’s name, a hyphen “-“, and the name of their server with no spaces: Character-RealmName.

Cross realm mail for account bound items does exist now though. there is an heirlooms collection tab now, it is account wide as are pets, toys and mounts. you can use your acquired heirlooms on all of your characters now. you just click it in the tab and it spawns it into your inventory.
