Why is the 24 70 lens so expensive?
Supply and demand. Aside from the quality aspect, it’s expensive because it’s the only 24-70 F2. 8 range zoom lens with the manufacturers fastest focus system (USM). Sigma and Tamron do not make a 24-70 type lenses with HSM etc.

Which is better Tamron 24mm or Canon 50mm?
The 50mm lens, a cheapie but goodie, trailed the pack. Not worth discussing. At 24mm the Tamron showed slightly less sharpness than the 17-40 and markedly less sharpness than the 24-105. Microcontrast/lens contrast* was noticeably poorer than both the Canon lenses resulting in flatter depth and flatter tonality.
Can a Tamron lens be used on a Nikon?
