Deco Setup Walkthrough
- Launch the Deco App.
- Login or tap Sign Up to set up a TP-Link ID.
- Tap “Let’s Begin”, select the Deco icon according to your Deco’s model number.
- Unpack the contents of the box.
- Disconnect your modem’s power and tap “Next”
Does Deco need a router?
In the Deco network, the main Deco must be wired to a modem, router, or an internet cable to get internet access. In other words, Deco cannot be set up to connect to an existing router wirelessly. However, the satellite Deco can connect to the existing Deco network wirelessly.

How many Deco do I need?
All the Deco units are connected through the Wi-Fi backhaul connection. In this case, we recommend no more than 10 Deco units in the network to ensure Wi-Fi performance. Also, we recommend no more than three hops in the networks.
How do I set up second Deco?
Adding an additional unit to your TP-Link Deco network
- Select the Deco icon according to the model number of your Deco unit.
- Select the layout that looks like your home, tap “Next”.
- Power on the new Deco unit and wait for the LED to turn to pulsing blue, then tap “Deco’s LED is pulsing blue”.
