What is a Phil class?
An introduction to the literature, problems, and methods of philosophy. Emphasis is on developing awareness of the significance of philosophical problems and learning to offer rationally justifiable solutions. Students may receive credit for only one of the following courses: HUMN 125 or PHIL 100.

What GPA do you need to graduate CSUN?
In order to graduate from CSUN, you will need to earn at least a “C” average in certain areas. A “C” average on a 4 point scale translates into a 2.0 average. Readings for philosophy courses are generally not long, but they are difficult and challenging. You cannot expect to go through an assigned reading once and have an adequate grasp of it. Some students seem to thrive on the painstaking study required, while others simply don’t have the patience for it.
Does CSUN accept D’s?
Grades A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D- indicate passing grades; F indicates failure. Faculty define the grading criteria for all courses.
Can I graduate with a C?
The consequences of a C grade is different depending on the graduate school policy. Generally, a C grade is equivalent of an undergraduate F. It is polite way of saying that you are not ready to do graduate work. If you will need to maintain a B average, a C may get you kick out of the program.
