In the mk4 generation they introduced the 1.8t engine in several differnt versions, Whilst also changing the VR6. The 1.8t was available in a 150bhp version and 180bhp version. AFAIK, the only different was some software tweaks. The VR6 was given 12 more vavles, to make it a total of 24v, and with that was bumped to 200bhp.
