Why is my steering wheel not working on my VW?
This clock spring allows the wheel to turn and maintains a connection from the controls to the electrical system. It sounds like this spring is broken. Someone with more specific VW knowledge should be along to elaborate. I would start with a VCDS scan, especially of the steering wheel control module.
