What is a TAC module?
The TAC module uses the two APP signals to determine absolute pedal position. Both APP sensor 1 and APP sensor 2 signal voltage increases as the pedal is depressed. The APP sensor signals are used by the PCM to monitor and make available one accelerator pedal percent PID.
What is a Chevy TAC module?
The TAC module is the control center for the throttle actuator control system.
Where is the throttle actuator control system?
The throttle controller is located on top of the engine between the air intake and the intake manifold.
Where is the TAC module located?
The TAC module is mounted on the driver’s side firewall under the corner brace. There are 2 connectors plugged into the bottom of it, one 10 pin and one 16 pin. The APP sensor 1 signal is the dark blue wire on the 10 pin connector.
Which is the control module of the TAC system?
Engine Control Module The engine control module (ECM) is the control centre for the throttle actuator control (TAC) system. The ECM determines the drivers intent and then calculates the appropriate throttle response. The ECM achieves throttle positioning by providing a pulse width modulated voltage to the TAC motor. Modes of Operation
How does the TAC work on a car?
During the battery saver mode, the TAC module removes the voltage from the motor control circuits, which removes the current draw used to maintain the idle position and allows the throttle to return to the spring loaded default position. €€€€•€ Acceleration limiting.
Is the corvette TAC module the same as the PCM?
It looks identical to the 1997–2004 Corvette TAC module but it is not interchangeable with other electronic throttle systems. In 2003, General Motors introduced a new Gen III truck throttle body, TAC module, and PCM. This new throttle body is not backward compatible with the 1999–2002 trucks. Always use matching equipment to ensure compatibility.
Is there a pigtail connector for the TAC module?
There is a throttle body pigtail connector available through GMSPO, but installing this pigtail connector may cause other intermittent TAC module/TP codes at a later date. If this pigtail must be used, please follow the SI procedures for Splicing Copper Wire Using Splice Sleeves. (the proper Kent-Moore crimping tool must be used for this repair)
