Why is my car blowing hot air after?

The front demist deffo has an electrical heater element under the dash. So now in the cold mornings I press the demist on twice (electric and heat) and reduce the fan a little, sometimes turn the AC off if not steamy and the car gets so warm very quickly even though the engine is still cold. Fantastic.
